Here is a simple walk-through for those who are interested to explore more funactionlity with the HDX player. Installing a HDD will enable the follow function, NFS/SMB Server, Upnp AV Server, NAS and Bittorent client. There are some screws you need to remove in order to install the SATA HDD. Step. 1 - remove 2 screws at the bottom of the player, and the bottom plate should fall off automatically. Otherwise, you may apply some pressure at the point where the arrow marked to lift up the bottom plate. If still not able to remove the bottom plate, continue to step 2. 
Step 2 - if the bottom plate refused to budge, you will have to loosen the rear panel which is tightening the bottom plate. Remove 4 screws here, upon removing the screws you will notice that the bottom plate starts to loosen up and you can now easily remove. Becareful not to pull out the rear panel. 
Step 3 - Using the HDD screws provided, you can secure your HDD to the bottom plate. Make sure you orientate properly to face the SATA connecting point near towards the cable. 
Step 4 - Connecting the SATA and Power to your HDD, make sure that your HDD is set to master. 

Step 5 - After you have ensure that the SATA cable is secure, you are now ready to close up the bottom plate. This is a little tricky, there is a groove at the other end that you need to slide into the main case. You can see from the picture. After you have slide in, make sure that the bottom plate is flush with the case. After which, you may start to screw back everything. 
Step 5 - Power up your HDX player 

Step 6 - you will notice that your HDD is now display on the source page, you can start playing back your movies. (note, you do not have to format your HDD to EXT2/3 if you just want to read access. To install NMT apps to enable all the goodies, continue to step 7 
Step 7 - Navigate to setup -> maintenance -> NMT Setup wizard (hit OK on the remote) 

The rest will be pretty simple process by clicking next all the way which will prompt you to format your HDD. Hope that this helps....
